How To Get Working Visa In Vietnam


Vietnam's economy is in the period of development and integration, so many foreign enterprises want to expand their business to Vietnam, so leading to an increasing number of foreigners coming to live and work in Vietnam. 

Therefore, foreigners who want to be able to legally work in Vietnam must have a work permit, in addition to a work visa in Vietnam.




1.    Prepare the document:

-    Original passport still valid (minimum 6 months)

-    Passport-size picture(s) with the size is 4cm x 6cm, white background, without glasses, taken within 6 months from the date of application

-    Visa in use (in case of visa extension)

-    Official letter of guarantee of enterprises operating in Vietnam

-    Vietnamese visa application form. You can download or get the Vietnam Visa Application Form at the Embassy or Consulate.

-    Work permit or investment certificate



2.    Submit the application and receive an appointment

-    The staff of the business or guarantee organization in Vietnam will submit all the prepared documents to the Immigration Department. 

-    He/she must bring a business introduction letter and identity card.


+ Northern area: No. 44-46 Tran Phu, Ba Dinh, Hanoi

+ Southern area: No. 254 Nguyen Trai, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City

+ Central Region: No. 7 Tran Quy Cap, Hai Chau District, Da Nang City

-    In case of applying for a visa at an overseas Vietnamese embassy or consulate, the enterprise or organization must pay a fax fee at the check-in counter.

-    * Note: Immigration Department works from Monday to Saturday morning (except Sunday and public holidays).



3.    Get results

-    Immigration Department will return results after 5 working days from the date of receiving valid documents.

-    The person to receive the results must carry with them receipts, identity cards or passports so that the officers can check and compare.

-    In the Arrival Letter, the Immigration Agency clearly states the time of entry and the place of visa receipt of the foreigner.



4.    Notifications for foreigners.

Enterprises and organizations must notify the completion of visa application procedures at the Immigration Department and send the document to foreigners (fax, email, courier) to receive the visa. 

5.    Receive Visa and pay the fee

At the place of receiving the visa, the Foreigner arrives at the time and place of the visa receipt indicated on the entry form. Then, he/she needs to: 

  • Complete and submit form NA1 with passport photo 4cm x 6cm
  • Submit the original passport
  • Submit a copy of the approved entry letter at the Immigration Department
  • Pay the visa application fee
